Walking in parks

Having worked for the Royal Parks in London for just over 11 years I was able to appreciate the benefits of being in greenspace, surrounded by nature in the centre of a city. When I started not many people had dogs… but this grew and grew as did the amount of cycling and numbers of visitors. Dogs give people companionship and a reason to walk outside. A huge comfort in a busy place.

Parks play an enormously important role. There needs to be enough of them to support communities in urban area and they need to be located close to where people live, learn, and work. The inequality has been well researched but the job of addressing these issues are underfunded and lack leadership. If you haven’t had the experience it is more difficult to imagine.

The link above is worth considering exploring for your mental and physical health. If you are lucky enough to enough to have some greenspace near you… perhaps visit with a new perspective… perhaps silently and focusing on all your senses.

You never know what you may discover. Have fun with it!
